At Least 25 Killed as Aid Truck Overturns in Besieged Gaza

At least 25 people were killed and many others injured when an aid truck overturned onto a crowd of people waiting for humanitarian assistance in the besieged Gaza Strip on Wednesday, local time. According to the Palestinian state news agency Wafa, the truck was forced to travel a dangerous route under pressure from Israeli forces, leading to the tragic accident. The exact location of the incident has not yet been specified.

This report was published on Thursday (August 7) by Anadolu Agency, citing Wafa.

Deaths in the Pursuit of Aid

On the same day, at least 24 more Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks. In western Rafah, southern Gaza, five people waiting outside an aid distribution center were shot and killed by Israeli forces. In the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, five members of a single family were killed and at least 20 others wounded in an airstrike.

Elsewhere in Gaza City, a six-month-old baby was killed in a drone strike on an aid shelter. In separate attacks on two residential buildings in the same city, eight more people, including children, were killed. In the Deir al-Balah area of central Gaza, five more people were shot and killed near a shelter.

Deepening Humanitarian Catastrophe

According to Anadolu, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has worsened drastically. Since March 2 of this year, Israel has completely sealed all entry points into Gaza, which has been under blockade for 18 years. As a result, the lives and livelihoods of Gaza's 2.4 million residents are facing total collapse.

According to the Gaza government, only 843 aid trucks have entered the enclave since July 27, while the daily need stands at around 6,000 trucks.

Palestinian data shows that since May 27, Israeli attacks near U.S.-backed aid distribution centers have killed 1,568 people and injured at least 11,230.

Accusations of Intentional Starvation

Gazan authorities have accused Israel of deliberately creating chaos and famine. They claim that hungry civilians are being forced to collect aid through bombed and unsecured routes. Many are now calling these zones "death traps for the hungry."

The Horrors of War

Since Israel’s military campaign began in October 2023, over 61,100 people have been killed in Gaza. Continuous air and ground assaults have turned vast areas of the territory into rubble. Millions are now trapped in famine, insecurity, and severe humanitarian crisis.
