Eagles to Face Cowboys in 2025 NFL Season Opener

NFL Season Opener

The Philadelphia Eagles will kick off the 2025 NFL season by hosting their longtime NFC East rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, on Thursday, September 4, the league has confirmed.

It’s the first time since 2000 that these two teams will meet in a season opener.

Fresh off their 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59, the Eagles will begin their title defense on home turf against their fiercest divisional foe. Historically, defending Super Bowl champions have performed well in openers—since 2004, they hold a 15-5 record, including the Chiefs’ 27-20 win over the Ravens to open the 2024 season.

The Cowboys, now led by newly appointed head coach Brian Schottenheimer, will look to buck that trend and make an early statement.

Additional matchups will be revealed in the coming days, with the full 2025 NFL schedule set to be released Wednesday at 8:00 PM ET (1:00 AM BST Thursday).
